Totals by Jurisdiction Pane

Entering Fuel and Mileage Information by Jurisdiction

 

The Fuel Type pane allows entry of the grand totals of miles and gallons (or kilometers and liters) by each fuel type, for the entire return. 

¨    Enter the two-letter Jurisdiction code (i.e. MI for Michigan) in the Juris column.  See Appendix A for the complete list of codes.  Enter the code in UPPER CASE.

¨    Enter the two-letter fuel type code (i.e. DI for diesel) in the FT column.

¨    Enter the total distance traveled on that fuel type for the quarter in the Total Miles column.

¨    Enter the total volume of fuel purchased and placed in the vehicles in the Total Gallons column.

¨    Divide the mileage by the gallons, and enter the result in the MPG column.

¨    Enter another two-letter fuel type code (i.e. GA for gasoline) and repeat the process to enter the data for that fuel type.

¨    Click the Add More Fuel Types button to add another row to the table for additional fuel types.

Column (upper case two-letter codes) – Fuel Types

The fuel types must be a two-letter code, in upper case.  Proper fuel codes are:

DI         Diesel

GA       Gasoline.

BD        Bio-diesel

MH       Methanol

GH       Gasohol

LN        Liquid Natural Gas

CN        Compressed Natural Gas

A5        A-55

LP        Propane

M8        M-85

Total Miles

(Kilometers)

Enter the number of total distance for all vehicles using this fuel type, in all jurisdictions for the quarter.

Total Trip Miles

(Kilometers)

Column (numbers)

Enter the number of miles (or kilometers) that are excluded due to permits or other conditions.

Taxable Miles

(Kilometers)

Enter the number of miles remaining after deducting Total Trip Miles from Total Miles.

Tax Paid Gallons

(Liters)

Enter the fuel volume as a number of total gallons (or liters) of the fuel type, for all vehicles in this jurisdiction for the quarter.

Surcharge ($)

Column (dollars)

Enter the amount due as a surcharge. Multiply the surcharge amount (for some states) by the number of Taxable Miles.

Base Tax / Credit ($)

Column (dollars)

Enter the amount paid as taxes on fuel purchased in each jurisdiction.

Interest ($)

Column (dollars)

Enter the amount due that has accrued as interest on previously unpaid or late amounts.
